A revolution is on the horizon in the world of team sports, and the Women’s National Volleyball Association’s approach to their pre launch campaign is putting a new spin on pro sports in America. When you speak to Ron De Shay, the owner of the WNVA, also the Senior Producer of the country’s #1 show “American Idol,” you will find that his plan for developing this league is simple. “My plan is to have the best professional sports league in the world,” De Shay says. To make this happen, he has surrounded himself with his own team of talented agents, producers and business people to help make his dream a reality.
Leigh Steinberg, along with his company, Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment is but one example of the kind of firepower the WNVA has in its arsenal. Leigh Steinberg is widely recognized as the country’s leading sport agent. He has represented over 150 professional athletes in football, baseball, basketball, boxing and Olympic sports. His firm, Leigh Steinberg Sports & Entertainment, maintains a client roster that is highlighted by some of the most high profile names in sports. Steinberg has set the standard for athlete marketing and positioning. He has been a pioneer to the convergence between sports and entertainment industries. Now he’s bringing the innovations that have been available to male athletes and their sports, to the ladies of the Women’s National Volleyball Association.
This group of moguls realizes the popularity of volleyball nationally and internationally, but the indoor game has not successfully been represented as a professional sport in the US. For this reason, the owners and developers will focus heavily on growing volleyball’s fan base through all forms of media, public relations and promotional tours. The first phase of the pre launch will introduce the WNVA website and it’s clothing and volleyball apparel line. The next step is to make excellent use of grassroots public relations and marketing in order to bring attention to the athletes even before the WNVA officially begins. The first of such innovative promotions will be to get people across the country to help choose the locations for the eight WNVA startup teams representing the new league. Fans will be asked to rally for their cities by putting together entertaining video campaigns, telling the league’s owners why “their city”, would be a great site for one of the WNVA teams.
At the end of this campaign, Ron De Shay will return to his roots and attempt to do something that has never been done before by launching a pro sports league via a reality show. The viewers will get an inside look into the lives of the athletes as they compete for a chance to do something they have never been able to do before… play professional volleyball in the United States of America. De Shay realizes this is quite a different approach to starting a pro league, but he believes it’s an important step in becoming the best. Let the revolution begin!

It’s about time!
Long overdue. This is very exciting!

Can’t wait!!!
I am glad something like this is happening. I know it will be a huge success.
Yea!! I’m so excited this is happening!!
well it’s about time… it’s important that we do everything we can to put USA Volleyball on the map, since the USA did bring home 5 medals from the Olympics
(3 gold & 2 sliver) so much talent in the USA that needs to be show-cased…
This is awesome, I can’t wait to support it. I wish you all much success.
Fantastic! I thought I would never see the day

this might be a stupid question, but its not going 2 be a womens league only is it? there will be a mens league too? i really hope this works out! vball in the US needs something like this!
I’m so excited at the idea of being able to follow our favorite college players (go UF!!) in a pro league here in the States!! When do we get to purchase merch!!
Let’s do this. Seattle will host a team. What do you need? Where do we start? Let’s roll!
It’s great to see another attempt to bring Pro Volleyball to the US. I was the webmaster for the San Jose Storm Women’s Pro indoor team back in the NVA and PVL days (1995-1997). It will be great to once again see our top athletes playing on their home turf. You have my full support.
But what about men’s league?Men’s volleyball is generally much more popular around the World.
Probably only in U
Probably only in USA and Japan women’s competition are more popular than men’s.
This is great! We’re hoping that it makes it this time. The greater the success for the women’s league, the better the chances of having a men’s league. It would be great if more people could make a living in VB (and stay in the US).
