Great American and role model John Wooden once said “Success is never final; failure is never fatal. It’s courage that counts.” There are both conventional and non-conventional ways of approaching a dream. Whatever the method, it takes courage to see a dream through to completion. The dream of the Women’s National Volleyball Association is to be successful in bringing professional volleyball back to the United States. Because the goal is to bring it back, that suggests pro volleyball was here once before. That may be a surprise to many our fans today, but it is in fact true. Over the years there have been a few attempts to start indoor professional volleyball leagues. The Women’s Professional Volleyball Association was established in 1986. Major League Volleyball was started in 1987. Both leagues failed. Then there was the National Volleyball Association in 1994. At the turn of the century, the United States Professional Volleyball League came on to the scene, but it also fell short in building a lasting outlet for volleyball athletes and fans.

Some people may be wondering why the developers of WNVA are placing such a strong emphasis on fan growth and fan support. One major reason is because of what was missing during the earlier startups. The lack of fan support was in fact a large contributor to why the earlier leagues did not make it. There were other reasons but none more significant than fan support. The truth is, no professional organization can survive with out the support of fans. Outside of the athletes, you…the fans are the most important element to success.

While our research has shown us the popularity of volleyball reaches well into the millions and covers all of the United States, none of the past leagues have ever brought the entire volleyball community together. Our goal is to unite the volleyball fans in the U.S. in their entirety and to consistently give this sport a mainstream platform. We currently have more access to do things in television than we have ever had before, but we can only be as successful as the fans that support us. Without fans being on board from the beginning, we run the risk or repeating what has already been done. Moving with the courage that it takes to see a dream fulfilled, the developers of the Women’s National Volleyball Association have been careful to respectfully remember these past models. They are taking from all of the old experiences in order to help this new organization succeed, so that our lot is not to repeat history but to make it! Continue to spread the word until every volleyball enthusiast becomes a fan, and thanks again for joining the revolution.

In the latest fan poll, Dallas fans still have a commanding lead over the rest of the top cities. Chicago’s fans are a distant second place, while Seattle continues its claim on third place. New York also stayed consistent over the past weeks and they remained in the fourth spot. The fans of Atlanta and Austin traded positions, with Austin’s fans dropping to sixth and Atlanta’s fans moving up to fifth.

After dropping out of the last poll, Houston’s fans came back strong, claiming the eighth spot for this fourth week in the month of March. Rounding out this batch of top ten cities are the fans of San Antonio and Waterloo. Thanks to all the fans for your support. Continue to help us spread the word and invite your friends and other fans of this great sport to become our fans here at the WNVA. Our next fan prize winner will be announced April 5th.

Since being here last, there is definitely something worth celebrating…our growth of 20,000 plus fans! We want to thank all of our fans for helping us reach this level. We apologize for the delay in the posts over the last two weeks. As we continue our development and as we near the final months of our fan drive, changes are developing in our social media forums. Among those changes is the frequency in which our top city updates will now run. Beginning this week, our updates will switch from weekly to bi-weekly posts. Since our last update, there have also been some big changes among the top cities. The biggest change occurred with the leading city.

Dallas fans have taken a commanding lead over the other cities during the last few weeks. They have managed to stretch their lead to almost 4% over the nearest competitor. The nearest competitor happens to be, the fans of Chicago. While there have been major shifts in the top ten, Chicago’s fans have managed to maintain their hold on second place during our recent levels of growth.

Seattle fans have moved up to third place while New York, Austin and Atlanta fans are in fourth, fifth and sixth place respectively. Los Angeles is in seventh place and the fans of Houston hold the eighth spot.

Our latest polls show that over the past few weeks, new cities have also moved closer the bubble of the top cities. Sitting just outside of the top ten are Waterloo IN , Phoenix AZ and fans from Denver CO. As we move through these last few months before summer and the end of our fan membership drive, please continue to help us spread the word.

Thanks for joining the revolution!

As we begin the year 2011, we enter it great optimism and enthusiasm about what this year holds. Our latest fan polls show that we have reached 19,885 fans, just shy of 20,000 fans. That’s a good sign because it means we have a good number of new fans joining us everyday. Since our last posting the Dallas fans have had a significant growth in their numbers, as well as the fans of Seattle.

It isn’t too late for any city to be considered as a possible location for one the WNVA startup teams. So don’t give up hope just because your city isn’t currently in one of the top spots. Continue to spread the word to other fans in your city and across the country. You’ll be surprised at how quickly the word can spread.

Next week a new fan prize winner will be announced, and as this first quarter progresses, the WNVA’s upcoming projects for the year will be announced. Check back Monday to see if you are one the fan prize winners for the month of February. We thank you, the fans, for your continued support. Let the Revolution Begin

Nearly one hundred guests attended the WNVA sponsored holiday event, as the worlds of Hollywood and Orange County came together to celebrate the season.
“It was the perfect way to celebrate the holidays, and a great way to end the year as we continue the pre-launch of our new company,” says WNVA owner’s Ron and Colette DeShay. This event is the DeShay’s annual holiday party. The Women’s National Volleyball Association headlined the list of sponsors along with Peligroso and renowned OC fashion designer Marisa Kenson.

As guests arrived, they were treated to a festive evening full of fun, dining and entertainment. Concert pianist Gordon Cheng played Christmas carols, and hip-hop violinist Josh Vietti wowed the guests with his tremendous talent. Also, American Idol’s Brooke White made an appearance, along with some members of “The Real Housewives of Orange County” cast.

The DeShay’s identify this annual gathering as a time for friends, family, coworkers and colleagues to come together just to have a good time. This year, Ron and Colette had lots of reasons to celebrate. In addition to being surrounded by an incredible group of friends from Hollywood and Orange County, during the pre-launch of the WNVA, they were able to bring in more than 18,000 fans in the last 4 months of the 2010.

“Our fans are our foundation. That is why we have placed such a great emphasis on building up our fan base,” says Ron DeShay. The couple is excited about the response from volleyball fans across the country. Much of the growth that has taken place has been spear headed by the fans. The WNVA fan base now covers all 50 states plus 14 other countries around the world.

The DeShay’s say there is no better way for them to celebrate the great things that are taking place for the WNVA. They believe 2011 will be a groundbreaking year. The couple would like to extend many thanks to the existing fans of WNVA and while ending their interview; they quoted the WNVA’s pre launch phrase, “Let the Revolution Begin!” Happy New Year to everyone! We look forward to unveiling the plans for this great movement in volleyball this year.

This week, the eyes of the volleyball world were all focused on one city in the mid west…Kansas City! Four of the nations top volleyball programs met there to decide who would take home this years national title. Texas and Penn State… Cal and USC were all apart of this years final four, which saw Penn State win it’s fourth National title. This past weeks event culminated this years college volleyball season. We and would like to extend our congratulations to Penn State for winning yet another National Championship. We would like to also congratulate Cal, Texas and USC for reaching this years final four as they conclude three incredible journeys for their athletes and schools.

As the past week’s event took place, it had a direct reflection on the results of this weeks fan poll. Kansas City fans have been for the last few weeks, sitting at, or right on the bubble of the top ten. Of the fans acquired this week, Kansas City fans made up more the one third of those new fans. Dramatically, Kansas City fans grew in it’s fans count and positioning. Those fans now sit in eighth place.

There were minor changes elsewhere, but not among the top four groups. Chicago fans still sit in first while Dallas fans sit in second. Austin fans are still holding on to the number three spot and New York fans have a solid grip on fourth. The changes begin with Los Angeles fans growing just enough to inch past Atlanta who is now tied for sixth place with Houston’s fans. As mentioned earlier Kansas City fans are in eighth place as they bumped Seattle and San Antonio fans down one spot each. That completes this week’s results for our top ten.

Congratulations once again to this year’s National Champion Penn State…and also to every college volleyball program across this great country. You all give those of us who love this game something to cheer about.

Just a reminder to our returning fans and to the fans who are just joining us, please remember to invite other volleyball fans to become our fans on facebook.. Our goal is to reach 25,000 fans before the year is over. Although the numbers have been a little lower these last couple of weeks, we still believe we can reach this goal… together, with your help.

Thanks to all of our fans, we really appreciate you and what you have helped us accomplish as it relates to our fan growth. Happy Holidays to everyone and thanks for joining the revolution!

We are entering into the third week of December and our final push for this years fan membership drive. Currently we have 16,734 fans. Our goal is to close out the year with 25,000 fans, so we are asking all the fans to spread the word to help us accomplish this. This week, please remember to encourage your friends and family to become our fans on facebook.

We gained a little bit more than 500 fans in our fan poll this week. That increase brought about some changes among the leading cities.
After a few weeks in second and third place, Chicago fans return to the number one spot. Dallas fans dropped to second place, bumping Austin’s fans into third place.

While other cites have shifted their positions almost weekly, New York fans have remained steady in fourth place for the last four weeks. Atlanta fans continued a trend they began last month and have moved from seventh to fifth place, knocking Houston’s fans to sixth and Los Angeles fans down to seventh.

Another group that has held on tightly to their position are Seattle’s fans. They seem to have a lock on eighth place. Rounding out the top ten are San Antonio and Kansas City fans who held onto the ninth and tenth places. St. Louis, Phoenix, Madison, Tampa, Wichita, Irvine and Omaha are on the bubble.
Again, we want to give a very big thanks to the fans for helping to get the word out. Everyone keep rallying, and together we will get there. We are so happy to have the privilege of working with such enthusiastic and supportive fans. Thank you all for joining the revolution!

Our fan membership drive began five months ago in August. Looking back at the earlier polls, a lot has changed since then. The most obvious change is in the fan numbers. We started the drive with about 5,300 fans. Five months later we are celebrating 16,211 fans. We have more than doubled our numbers.

In this last month of 2010, we have set out to do something pretty incredible. Something we have yet to accomplish during this drive. We are pushing to get 9,000 fans in one month, so we can close out the year with 25,000 fans. This is not an impossible task, but it will take all of us coming together to make it happen. A simple way of looking at it… if every fan can get at least one person to join this month, we can easily exceed our goal of 9,000 fans for the month of December. Remember, together we can do anything! It will take all of us coming together to reach this goal.

The easiest way to encourage others to become fans is by suggesting that your friends and other fans of the game “like” the WNVA or by clicking the like buttons on the WNVA homepage or the Facebook fanpage.

This week in our fan poll, Dallas fans continue to sit in the top position as the Austin fans rallied and are tied for second place with the fans of Chicago. New York fans held steady and remained in fourth place while Houston fans moved up two places to take the fifth position. Los Angeles and Atlanta both dropped one place in this week’s poll. Los Angeles fans are in sixth and Atlanta fans are now in seventh. Seattle and San Antonio fans both held on to their eighth and ninth positions from last week. Rounding out the top ten are the fans of Kansas City who fought their way back into the top ten. St. Louis fans dropped out of the top ten.

This month’s fan prizewinner will be announced on Wednesday. Check back next week to see how your city is doing and where we are with our goal. Let’s show the world what we are made of as we pull together to get 9,000 fans this month. Thanks again for joining the revolution!

This past week, we celebrated the milestone of reaching 15,000 fans. What a wonderful accomplishment for us all. As we enter the final month of 2010, we want to thank everyone for coming together to help us unite volleyball fans across the country this year. The fans of the WNVA have to be the greatest fans in the world. You are the foundation for this new league and we appreciate your hard work, kind words and overall support.

In our latest fan poll, the top four cities, Dallas, Chicago, Austin and New York have to continued to receive great support from the fans in their areas. There have been a few changes amongst those cities this week. Dallas fans remained in first place, while Chicago fans moved up to second place and Austin fans dropped into third place. New York fans remained steady and held fourth place.

There were more changes with Los Angeles fans moving up two places into fifth, and Atlanta fans, after making huge gains over the last three weeks, dropped one spot into sixth place. Houston fans are all tied up with the fans of Atlanta. Seattle, San Antonio and St. Louis Fans have all maintained and held onto their positions from last week. Seattle is in eighth, San Antonio is ninth and St. Louis is still in tenth.

In our final month, we want to give one last push to raise the closing numbers for this year. We’ve been averaging a little less 5,000 fans per month. This month, our goal is reach another 10,000 fans. This is a big task so we are asking the fans everywhere to rallying with us to help make this happen. Let’s close the year out with huge numbers. Thanks again, for joining the revolution and remember together we can do anything!
